About:

Patricia Erickson is a self-taught artist. She was born in Philadelphia,

Pennsylvania in 1948 and has resided in Central America since 1987.

Regalame Gallery says:

"Many people ask about the faceless paintings. Directly from our wonderful

artist about that: Whose face would I put? The paintings are deeply and

profoundly about us all. The people in my paintings make lives, truly graceful

lives, out of very simple things. Out of watching, observing and protecting

each other. That is all we know about the rather private personalities that

I paint. People going about the small business of life.”

Eduardo Vega V., Presidente, Casa de Cultura, Limón says:

"I like Patricia's paintings because far from looking to reproduce a photograph,

they go into the depth of the soul, expressing the life that escapes many of us."

Juan Bernal Ponce, Art Critic La Nación says:

, says

"Patricia Erickson paints with an agile brush, borrowing from the primitives

in her elementary perspective and her vibrant chromatic harmonies. She ignores

classic drawing and the bodies suit the composition more than reality....

It had to be a foreigner without our cultural complexes who looked with tenderness and respect on our Caribbean culture."

Lei Parker, Poet, says:

"Enjoy the vibrancy, the movement, the disproportionality, the way these pieces break the rules, enjoy their captured innocence, their frankness, all with brushstrokes that convey the richness of Costa Rica, lush and sumptuous with a confidence that offers no apology to the critics, succinctly marking each painting with a signature that is truly Patricia Erickson’s."

Dianne Patterson says:

As I browse through Patricia´s web site I am thinking about her prolific output as it encaptures personalities, characters,, stories, the paraphernalia of life and nature, just for starters! Folk Art is very special.  I admire Patricia Erickson for her years of dedication to this expression.
